Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy

This unit covers the essential skills and knowledge needed to use specialised equipment for resuscitation and oxygen therapy, following the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. It is designed for individuals who may need to provide resuscitation or oxygen therapy in various complex situations, whether in the community or workplace settings.

Course Content:

  • Recognise and assess an emergency situation.

  • Ensure safety for self, bystanders and casualty.

  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with the use of a bag-valve mask (with oxygen).

  • Operate an automated external defibrillator (AED).

  • Airway management and use of airway adjunct

  • Managing life-threatening bleeding using tourniquets and haemostatic dressings

  • Assessing vital signs

  • Administration of oxygen therapy

  • Maintenance of resuscitation equipment and oxygen therapy equipment

Imagine an advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy course where you actually work out exactly what to do in an emergency at your workplace.  We want staff to leave the training session not just competent but confident that should another individual stop breathing or require oxygen therapy, they know exactly what to do with confidence.

*Participants must have previously completed HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
