Provide Advanced First Aid
The ability to provide a first aid response is an important skill to have, both in the workplace and out in the community. This course provides the skills necessary to provide an advanced first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines, in a range of settings and scenarios.
Course Content:
Recognise and assess an emergency situation.
Seek assistance from emergency services.
Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Provide first aid in accordance with established first aid principles.
Operate first aid equipment.
Treat life threatening bleeding requiring use of tourniquets and haemostatic dressings
Basic triage of casualties
Accurately convey incident details to emergency services.
Report details of incidents in line with appropriate workplace procedures.

This course is a blend of online learning and practical. The practical session is delivered at your workplace or at our head office in East Brisbane for public courses.

You must possess the necessary physical capabilities to execute hands-on exercises, including 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin placed on the ground, and the application of rescue breathing on manikins.
Prior to participating in the practical session, you will be required to completed some online pre-course learning via the student portal.
To complete the online or pre-course study requirements, students are required to have a computer, smartphone, tablet, or other electronic devices with internet access.

Blended course delivery will include:
4-6 hours online pre-course learning
7 hour practical session

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both online and practical assessment tasks.

For group bookings payment is made the week prior to the training date. For individual bookings payment is required upfront when booking your preferred training date.

Participants that have completed the online learning and demonstrate competency in the practical assessment will receive a Statement of Attainment containing the following units:
HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
HLTAID010 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
HLTAID011 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid
*HLTAID009 unit is recommended to be renewed every 12 months.
**HLTAID011 & HLTAID014 is recommended to be renewed every 36 months.
